At the beginning of 1994 Oasis were unkown, though signed to Creation Records. Things changed with the release of their album 'Definitely Maybe', which became the fastest selling British debut album at the time. That year was one of meteoric change, with Liam and Noel Gallagher setting off on a major tour. Oasis: Their Breakthrough Year is an evocative collection of photos of Oasis taken during that time by Rock photographer Paul Slattery. Having been tipped off to their potential by producer Mark Coyle, who shared early versions of 'Definitely Maybe' when the band where still in the studio, Paul spent the year closely recording their burgeoning success; from sparsley attended shows around the UK to sold-out performances in the U.S. and Japan.

Paul Slattery took his first rock photos in June 1975, of Link Wray at the London Lyceum. Between 1978 and 1985 he was a regular contributor to Sounds magazine, and since then has photographed a veritable who's who of rock 'n' rollers on four continents. His work has appeared in NME, Q, Uncut, Mojo, Classic Rock and Japan's Rockin On, and in over a hundred books. While he continues to photograph rock bands he also enjoys travel and landscape photography and is presently involved in a long project to photograph all of Britain's native orchids. He is married and lives in Brentford, West London.
