Nusantara Codes examines the foundations that underlie the social complexity of the great nations in the archipelago currently known as Indonesia. One of the traditional works from Indonesia's diverse culture is batik. It goes beyond cloth filled with patterns and colors; within the batik patterns lie stories told through its symbols. The global community acknowledges that the symbol of love is a pink heart, but few realize that this romantic symbol of love originated from the narrative of the Truntum batik. The codes of the Nusantara-the Indonesian archipelago-uncover cultural elements with interesting and beautifully woven narratives. This study considers the origins and secrets behind batik, gamelan, folk songs, traditional carvings, and other arts and also considers how these cultural treasures inspire the future.
