Dr. Martina Zangger has a PhD specialising in the field of interpersonal violence and a Master’s Degree in Couple and Family Therapy. She has worked at the frontline helping women and children impacted by sexual assault and domestic violence for more than 20 years. Using a holistic, trauma-informed, feminist practice model, she assists traumatised clients to find safety and healing. Martina has worked for over a decade as a university lecturer helping medical students to become patient-centred communiators and empathic practitioners. She teaches students to provide a compassionate, non-judgemental response to their patients. Now, as an Honorary Lecturer, she provides guest lectures on sexuality, diversity, social justice and mental health. Martina divides her time between Awabakal (Newcastle) and Woromi Lands (Forster). Her partner and their twenty-six-year-old daughter surround her with deep love and unwavering support.
