Norfolk's first purpose-written guidebook to the countys key archaeological sites and historic buildings.

Norfolk has a wealth of important archaeological sites, historic buildings and historic landscapes. This guide is the first to use them to tell the county's rich history. Starting with real footprints of people who lived here nearly one million years ago, the authors take you to prehistoric monuments, Roman forts, early and medieval churches and Nelson's monument, right up to twentieth-century defensive sites. The book describes each site in detail and is well illustrated with aerial photographs and ground-level shots.

AUTHORS: Peter was County Archaeologist for Norfolk from 1973 to 1999 and then Director of the Norfolk Archaeological Trust until 2014.

Susanna is a rural historian of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries with a specific interest in buildings and landscape. She is an Honourary Research Associate of the School of History at the University of East Anglia.

David is a freelance archaeologist, historian and geographer who has been studying Norfolk's archaeology and history for over 20 years. For many years the authors have independently considered producing a book that covers Norfolk's key archaeological sites, and decided to join forces. They all live in Norfolk.
