We have been brought up to believe that, when we become sick, we can trust our medical system and (more specifically) our doctors to fix us. It's their calling and their duty. We hope that when they don't know or understand what is wrong, they will keep investigating until they figure it out. Unfortunately, that is often not the case.

Doctors are human, and as such, often find it easier to dismiss unusual combinations of symptoms, or assign a familiar but vague label, regardless of whether it actually fits the symptoms being described. It seems easier to discount symptoms when they don't make sense rather than admit that they don't know everything, and then make the effort to find out.

This is the story of one woman's physical, emotional, and spiritual journey through dis-ease to healing―a journey made possible by the determination of her devoted husband, who refused to give up on eventually uncovering the answer to a simple but heart-wrenching question: What is wrong with my wife?

Experience is a great teacher, and Sherri Antoinette learned a great deal as she fought to identify and recover from a mysterious illness that robbed her of strength and mobility, and forced her to live in ever-increasing pain and discomfort. Sherri always knew she would write a book but was never sure what it would be about. That dream eventually came true, and is one of many positive things to come out of what would otherwise have been a meaningless and unbearable struggle simply to get through each day, wondering why this horrible thing was happening to her. She hopes that, by sharing her story with others, they will realize that they are not alone in their battle with medical professionals who would rather mask a problem than actually get to the root cause. She hopes it will act as a template of determination, hope, faith, and the value of questioning authority. Sherri lives in Innisfil, Ontario, with William, the love of her life.
