ABBEY'S BOOKSELLER PICK ----- This lovely little production celebrates the life stories and aspirations of nine girls from the Tiwi Islands. As part of the fabulous Indigenous Literacy Foundation's work, the girls were brought to Sydney for mentoring at Hachette, to create stories, cultivate knowledge and motivate self-esteem. Apart from the introductions, the book is the work of each girl, featuring their words and artworks. They tell of their lives, proudest moments, sacred places and heroes. An excellent and commendable project for the girls to have been involved in, but also a generous act of sharing towards the readers. Lindy
