Jim Slagle is an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Portland in Oregon. He is the author of The Epistemological Skyhook: Determinism, Naturalism, and Self-Defeat (2016) and The Evolutionary Argument against Naturalism: Context, Exposition, and Repercussions (2021).
""Jim Slagle's Myth-Busting in Science and Religion is a serious book treating a serious, large, important subject, but it's packaged as a narrative that's irreverent, almost jarringly colloquial, and frequently just hilarious--as well as coherent, scholarly, and highly informative. It's really quite brilliant. I could hardly put it down and didn't want it to end."" --Dennis Danielson, professor emeritus, University of British Columbia ""In Myth-Busting in Science and Religion, Dr. Jim Slagle delivers a masterclass by dismantling the supposed conflict between faith and science with humor and precision. Engaging, scholarly, and laugh-out-loud funny, this book challenges readers to think deeply and enjoy the journey."" --Timothy A. Stratton, professor of theology, Trinity Theological Seminary ""Jim Slagle has written a delightful book, rigorous yet entertaining, that soundly debunks the popular claim that science and religion are unalterably opposed. With chapters on the unusual size of the cosmos, Galileo, God killers, and the ""righteous dead,"" this book would be a great choice for a rainy day or for a day lacking all precipitation."" --Paul Herrick, professor of philosophy, Shoreline Community College
