Cynthia M. Nikolai is an early adopter who has been using computers since the 1980s. She has a PhD in computer science and has authored and co-authored numerous scientific papers. Cynthia's research interests include optimization, scientific computing, web development, emergency management, and modeling and simulation. Cynthia also has taught numerous courses on computers, including a course called ""Introduction to Computers"" on which the material in this book is based. She lives in South Bend, Indiana. In her spare time, Cynthia enjoys crocheting, serving the community, and building the world's largest jigsaw puzzle.
