She is part of the team ""Glucolipotoxicity, diabetes and metabolic stress"" of the CarMeN Laboratory ""Cardiovascular, Metabolism, Diabetes and Nutrition"" in Lyon. She gained expertise in energy and lipid metabolism, with special emphasis on their involvement in the pathogenesis of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Her expertise in physiology and cell biology allows her to build integrative research approaches. She has been team leader at the Human Nutrition Unit in Clermont-Ferrand, associated editor of the journal Clinical Nutrition, and member of the several evaluation committees in France and Canada. She is now member of the Human Nutrition committee at the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES). She is also part of the Management Committee of the French Nutrition Society (SFN) and Secretary of the French “MeetOchondria scientific association. She is the author of over 87 international scientific publications. Earlier, he held a CNRS position in the Laboratory of Nutrition at the University of Paris VI as a team leader. He is now since 2010 the Director of the Center for the Study of Taste and Feeding Behavior (CSGA) in Dijon, a Centre of over 220 members affiliated to CNRS, INRA and University of Burgundy. Luc Pénicaud is a member of several international societies such as the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), the American Diabetes Association (ADA), the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO), the European and International Society of Neuroscience. He is memberof different boards among which the CNRS Scientific Commission on Physiology (as President), the INRA Scientific Council, and the commission of the National Program on Diabetes. He is the author of over 215 international scientific publications, especially in the field of brain nutrient sensing and the role played by mitochondria as molecular actors. His fields of expertise are Bioenergetics, Control and regulation of cell metabolism, and Mitochondria biogenesis; fields in which he has authored over 121 international scientific publications. His activities are focused on the regulation of energy metabolism in different kinds of cells, on the mitochondrial mechanisms controlling the oxidative phosphorylation efficiency and on the particular relationships between bioenergetic pathways and intermediary metabolism during various adaptiveprocesses. More recently, his group explored the role of ROS production in the regulation of mitochondrial biogenesis. Michel Rigoulet is a member of the Organizing Committees of the French Group on Bioenergetics (GFB) and of the European Bioenergetics Conferences (EBEC).
