Fey was elected to the Board of Governors of the 26,000 member American Numismatic Association (ANA) from 2005-2007. He currently services on the ANA Advisory Board. He was the Senior Instructor for the ANA Summer Seminar at the Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO for more than 20 years, served on the ANA Consumer Protection Committee, and loaned rare silver dollars for display in the ANA Museum. He has authored several reference books on Morgan dollars and published a quarterly newsletter for 10 years (A Decade of Top 100 Insights), but is perhaps best known as a co-author with his mentor silver dollar expert, Jeff Oxman, for ""The Top 100 Morgan Dollar Varieties: The VAM Keys.""
