In this compelling third part of their life story, Lee Walters, MD, and his wife, Cara, along with their triplet daughters, set out from Scottsdale, Arizona, to Pennsylvania, seeking a slower-paced life. It seems like they've found paradise, with Lee enjoying his work and an opportunity opening up for them to build their dream home on top of a mountain.

However, numerous professional conflicts as well as ongoing issues with their aging parents present all sorts of unanticipated hurdles. Seeking a change, Lee accepts what appears to be a promising job offer in his childhood home of Ridgewood, New Jersey, only to encounter even greater turmoil. Lee's professional status is threatened by a bipolar associate and a surprise offer of help comes from an unexpected source- a patient named Luigi who is rumored to be a Mafia boss. Their only other alternative is likely an ugly legal battle. Which way will they turn?

Through it all, Lee continues to serve his patients, investigating and solving all sorts of medical mysteries. Meanwhile, Lee and Cara's family bonds strengthen, proving that love and perseverance can overcome virtually any obstacle.

DR. LEE F. WALTERS, MD, FACP, is a recently retired infectious disease physician. His educational journey began at Davidson College in Charlotte, NC. He went on to graduate from the University of Virginia Medical School and interned there as well. This was followed by a medical residency at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, a fellowship in infectious disease at the University of Vermont, and over two decades of practice as an infectious disease specialist in Phoenix, Arizona. Lee went on to complete two more decades of practice on the East Coast, finishing his career in North Carolina with Atrium Health System in Charlotte. This is Lee's third book. His first book, Rescues from the Sky (2020) recounts his dramatic adventures in medical rescues while stationed at the US Coast Guard air station in San Francisco. His second book, Contagion Chaser, details his transition from saving lives at sea to becoming an infectious disease ""detective."" Lee now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with his wife. They have four daughters and six grandchildren.
