The Succession Act 2006 makes some of the most significant changes to the law of wills in New South Wales since 1898 when the Wills Probate and Administration Act 1898 was introduced. The commencement of the Succession Act 2006 on 1 March 2008 marks the implementation, with modifications, into New South Wales of the first phase of the national uniform succession laws project.
This publication is designed to provide a substantially self-contained introduction to the Act, with an annotated version of the legislation, including the 2007 amendments, as well as concise and informative commentary on the fundamental principles, issues and changes arising under it.
