Written by Diogo Oliveira, Lisbon Wildlife Guide is an engaging and comprehensive look at the incredible diversity of animal life found in Portugal's capital. This guide is tailored for nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, and city dwellers alike, inviting readers to uncover the hidden wildlife of Lisbon. With a focus on five main groups-birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish-this guide provides an in-depth exploration of each species, focusing on biology, morphology, diet, and where to find them. For each species, there are stunning photographs that bring the animals and their habitats to life, giving readers a vivid and personal perspective on Lisbon's wildlife.

In the Birds section, readers can discover a variety of both resident and migratory species that inhabit Lisbon's parks, gardens, and coastal areas. From colorful kingfishers to majestic herons and urban-adapted falcons.

The Mammals section explores Lisbon's more elusive inhabitants. Despite the city's urban environment, several small mammals, such as foxes, hedgehogs, and even bats, have adapted to live within the city limits.

The Reptiles section covers the reptiles native to Lisbon's warm Mediterranean climate, including lizards, snakes, and terrapins that thrive in rocky outcrops and sunny riverbanks.

In the Amphibians section, Lisbon's frogs, toads, and newts, which rely on the city's ponds, streams, and damp woodlands. Amphibians are often an indicator of environmental health, and their presence in Lisbon is a sign of the city's surprising ecological diversity.

Through detailed descriptions and Diogo Oliveira's rich photography, Lisbon Wildlife Guide invites readers to see Lisbon through a new lens. Perfect as a companion for walks through the city or as a reference guide for the home, this book is an invaluable resource for those wishing to connect with Lisbon's wildlife on a deeper level. Whether you're a visitor or a resident, Lisbon Wildlife Guide will inspire you to explore, observe, and appreciate the hidden wild spaces of this remarkable city.
