Ashlan Lee Chidester was born in Missouri. His parents, Ann Edwina Martin and adopted father James Owen Chidester, gave him his last name, changing it from Ashlan's biological last name of King. In 2022, he married Caroline Emma Chidester (born Caroline Cannon) in Vancouver, WA. Ashlan has published several technical manuals, articles, and books referenced in technical training throughout the world. Several podcasts, technical journals, and magazines have also referenced his lifelong work. He continues to live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with his wife and dog, writing from his home.
