Mark J. Maxin, Esq. has over 40 years of federal sector labor, employment, and discrimination law experience. He served in the Senior Executive Service as Assistant General Counsel for Administration for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), where he supervised a team of attorneys practicing before the Merit Systems Protection Board, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Federal Labor Relations Authority, U.S. Office of Special Counsel, Arbitrators, and the federal courts. He also served as Special Counsel for Labor, Employment, and Civil Rights at the NRC, and as Counsel for Labor Relations, U.S. Department of Labor, managing attorneys defending federal labor, employment, and discrimination law cases. He has handled numerous legal issues that have constitutional dimensions over the course of his career. Maxin is a former Chairman of the Montgomery County Commission on Adults with Disabilities and the recipient of the 2018 American Bar Association Federal Labor and Employment Lawyer of the Year Award. He currently serves as an adjunct professor is the School of Public Affairs (SPA) Key Executive Leadership Programs (KEY) at American University and teaches a course entitled Leadership in the Context of a Constitutional Government. He has also taught courses on disability law and harassment law and a course entitled The Legal Basis of Public Administration for students seeking a master's degree in public administration at American University. Maxin retired from the federal government in 2021 but continues to serve as a consultant teaching courses on harassment, disability, and reasonable accommodation in the workplace, as well as managing poor performance and misconduct in the federal government. Maxin currently volunteers for The InterPLAY Orchestra: Adult Music Makers of Diverse Abilities.
