Women contribute significantly to the rural economy in all regions of the world. In developing countries, they represent on average 43% of the working population and provide most of the agricultural production. However, women often face more difficulties than men when it comes to accessing essential productive resources, such as land ownership, and services such as credit, extension services, and social protection. Because of this difficult and unequal access, rural women remain confined to modest, low-yield activities and operate mainly in the informal economy. This limits their productive capacity and has negative repercussions on themselves, their families, and rural communities in general, particularly those in the rural areas of the sub-prefecture of Taabo. This contribution aims to first outline the difficult socio-cultural conditions of rural women in the sub-prefecture of Taabo.
