Inside Story is a fabulous showcase of the richness and diversity of contemporary Australian children's books. An attractive full-colour production, it is packed with tips, advice, illuminating quotes and anecdotes. The stellar list of contributors includes writers, illustrators, editors, publishers, agents and reviewers from across Australia. Inside Story is an invaluable resource and reference book for aspiring writers, illustrators, editors and designers, and will also appeal to anyone interested in Australian children's books and is perfect for both the educational and general markets.

Published by UPA Books, the new collaborative imprint of United Publishers of Armidale, Inside Story is a joint enterprise of Armidale-based publishers Christmas Press and Little Pink Dog Books.

Commissioned by the New England Writers' Centre, it was supported by a generous grant from Create NSW. AUTHORS: Born in Indonesia of French parents, brought up in France and Australia, and now living in NewEngland Sophie Masson is the award-winning author of over 70 books, most of which are for children and teenagers, including many picture books. Kathy is an award-winning children's picture book writer and illustrator who has also won awards forher biographical and short story writing. Peter is a former Rolls Royce aerospace engineer who, some 25 years ago, developed an interest in publishing children's books. Together with his wife, Kathy, he started Little Pink Dog Books in order to help new and emerging authors and illustrators enter into the children's picture book market. Beattie Alvarez is a tyrannical commissioning editor. She is tough. She is addicted to coffee. She is generally cranky. In her spare time, she is an author, designer and dragon hatcher. She has several books with her name on the cover, a few anthologies with her name on a story inside, and permanent scars from the dragon hatching (there's also the editing she does, the shop she runs andthe illustrations she occasional draws) Education is Jen's life-long passion. She studied Education and Visual Arts at WSU. She later added English, History and Drama to her repertoire, as well as teaching students with special needs, and took on the roles of Secondary Coordinator, Support Coordinator and Assistant Principal. In 2018, after many years of teaching, Jen was looking for a new direction. She started Heights Proofreading because she loves the written word and was dismayed by the general decline in grammar and writing skills. Sharnee Rawson is a recent graduate of the University of New England. Ray Ainsworth is a local graphic designer with a love for layout.
