This is invisible digital colonialism that turns our data into imperialist spoils of war and our imaginations into uniform cultural norms leading to a desertification of identity. The tech giants, owners of American algorithms and digital infrastructure (GAFAM: Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, and Microsoft), Chinese (BATX: Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent, and Xiaomi), and international (NATU: Netflix, Airbnb, Tesla, and Uber), impose their ideological tendencies, economic influence, and enslaving and impoverishing norms on the countries of the South, which are consumers of technology.

The union between MENA countries, which are culturally and geographically close and complement each other (investors and human skills), is an opportunity for development. The digital and AI giants never reveal the secrets behind their technologies, which are the means of their supremacy. Even if they subcontract the integration of their technologies into foreign economies, they keep MENA countries dependent on their knowledge in order to enrich themselves. This is digital neocolonialism.
