This book provides a comprehensive overview of the role of microorganisms in industrial processes, environmental management, and the production of valuable industrial products. It reviews the role of microorganisms in industries such as food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, detergents, textiles, leather, paper and pulp, cosmetics, and bioenergy. It also examines the role of microbial indicators in assessing water quality and wastewater treatment. Additionally, the book explores the role of microbes in biogeochemical cycles and bioremediation. Towards the end, it discusses the potential of microbes in waste management, bioconversion of waste into bioenergy, microbial consortia for waste valorisation, bioprocess engineering, synthetic biology, circular economy approaches, and environmental monitoring and assessment. This book will be useful for researchers and professionals in the fields of microbiology, environmental sciences, biotechnology, and industrial processes.
