Indian textile production has flourished for centuries. Drawing on a host of influences, indigenous tribes, invaders, traders and explorers from across Asia and beyond have formed a culture legendary for its variety and colour. From the Rann of Kutch to the Coromandel coast, handloom weavers, block printers, painters, dyers and embroiderers are creating the most extraordinary textiles.

This comprehensive survey covers the history, materials and techniques of every part of the Indian subcontinent, matching authoritative text with a glorious array of images and detailed reference section to make this the essential guide.
