Representing a moment of humanity in the brutality of war, In Flanders Fields is a gentle introduction for young readers to the horrors of the battlefield.

Inspired by the true story of the 1914 Christmas Day truce in the trenches of Flanders early in World War I. This moving picture book follows a homesick young soldier as he risks his life to cross into no-man's-land and rescue a robin caught in the barbed wire that separates the opposing forces.
