Hyderabad Deccan: Kuch Yaadein, Kuch Jhalkian (Hyderabad Deccan: Some Glimpses and Memoirs) is a collection of essays and articles written on the history, culture, heritage and civilization as well as monuments, buildings and famous leaders and personalities of Hyderabad.

The book unfolds the vivid images of the customs and traditions of the Deccan. The reader may find him/her self sharing in the joys and sorrows of the people there, and cannot but acknowledge the intellect the city is known for. This feeling is aroused because the writers of the articles are either a part of the history of Hyderabad themselves, or know the city as the back of their hand.

Reviews for Hyderabad Deccan - kuch yaadein kuch jhalkian: (Hyderabad Deccan: some memoirs some glimpses)

I feel envious of Mukarram Niyaz as he not only has got a good poetic taste but is a humourist, a fiction writer as well. Additionally, he is associated with journalism. We can also recognise a credible literary and cine critic in him. Now, another aspect of his persona has come to the fore ... he is interested in history too, especially the history of Hyderabad, as evidenced by his compilation Hyderabad Deccan: Kuch Yaadein, Kuch Jhalkian (Hyderabad Deccan: Some Glimpses and Memoirs). It is a collection of essays and articles written on the history, culture, heritage and civilization as well as monuments, buildings and famous leaders and personalities of Hyderabad, painstakingly collected by him. The book makes us feel the aroma of the Deccan soil. It unfolds the vivid images of the customs and traditions of the Deccan before our eyes. We find ourselves sharing in the joys and sorrows of the people there, and cannot but acknowledge the intellect the city is known for. This feeling is aroused because the writers of the articles are either a part of the history of Hyderabad themselves, or know the city as the back of their hand. - Shakeel Rasheed Editor, Daily 'Mumbai Urdu News', Mumbai.
