The author has been working with dogs since the mid-1980s – his first dogs were Irish Setters. The arrival of a Hungarian Vizsla in 2003 heralded the move to the HPR group of gundogs with success in Field Trials and Working Tests and is an A Panel Field Trial Judge. As well as other Vizslas, he also owned and worked a German Shorthaired Pointer. He was the Field Trial Secretary for the Hungarian Vizsla Society prior to employment at The Royal Kennel Club as Field Trial Secretary for nearly 10 years. He enjoys working and picking-up at a local shoot and is Chairman of the Hungarian Vizsla Society.
