Human resource management has evolved over the years including personnel management and currently human resource management and human capital management. Human resource management should be looked at from the point of strategy; making management of human resources a strategic business partner and occupy strategic level decision-making. As a strategic rather than a 'technician' role, human resource practitioners should be deeply involved in strategy development, strategy implementation, control and evaluation of strategy. This book is intended for students studying human resource management for the first time and those studying it at strategic level. It places a greater emphasis on the role of human resources in improving organizational and employee performance. The book also provides a wide array of theories on strategic human resource management. It is recommended for undergraduate and graduate students in business and human resource management practitioners.
