An unbridled ride through the beauty of horse country around the globe—from tack room to saddle, British dressage to Western cowboys— and everywhere in between.

Prepare to take the most glamorous ride of your life. Horse Country is not just a book—it’s a sprawling, cinematic tribute to the world of horses. Epic in scale and almost as grand as a Thoroughbred, this tome bucks convention, letting loose the reins on beauty, fantasy, and freedom in equal measure.

Each page is a discovery: sweeping vistas of dew-dotted pastures, weathered tack rooms, head-turning rides in both English and Western style, and Friesians so exquisite they seem conjured from myth. Included amid all the unbridled beauty are essays on equestrian life and history and an illustrated horse breed dictionary that captures familiar and rarefied equines to know and love.

Whether you’re a lifelong equestrian or an aspiring horse girl, Horse Country is an essential love letter to life in the saddle.

Reviews for Horse Country

Equestrian and lifestyle writer O'Shea-Evans's (Alpine Style) breathtakingly beautiful book about horses pairs her prose about equines from around the world with vivid images from multiple photographers (who are credited at the back of the book). She writes of the different breeds of horses including Thoroughbreds, Tennessee Walking Horses, and Standardbreds; horses of the American West that are trained for rodeos; racehorses; show horses; polo ponies; and racing stables. O'Shea-Evans puts horses and horse culture in historical perspective with quotes from the likes of Abraham Lincoln, Mark Twain, and Winston Churchill. The book also includes ""A Horse Girl's Illustrated Dictionary,"" which is a compilation of the wide variety of breeds such as American Cream, Hackney, and Friesian. The foreword is written by author India Hicks (a granddaughter of Lord Mountbatten), whom O'Shea-Evans dubs ""the ultimate horse girl."" VERDICT Horse lovers will relish this attractive book. It will be of interest to both readers who want to learn more about horses and those who are experienced riders, owners, and trainers of equines.--Lucy Heckman ""Library Journal""
