Frank Miles grew up during the 1960s; his mother's support of the Civil Rights Movement made a lasting impression. After graduating from Bucknell University, where the subject of his honors thesis was the Bakke affirmative action case, he earned his Juris Doctorate from the George Washington University Law School. After practicing for eighteen years with the region's largest law firm, Frank became Vice President, Secretary, and General Counsel of a major corporation, which had only recently hired its first Diversity Director. This was at a time when Diversity initiatives were just beginning to be undertaken by a handful of organizations. As corporate secretary and strategic planning leader, Frank suggested that his position have oversight of Diversity efforts to underscore their importance to the entire enterprise. He was able to leverage his role throughout the community by encouraging his company to support fledgling projects like the local African American and LGBT Chambers of Commerce, and the Hispanic Community Center. Frank has chaired, co-chaired, and been a member of DEIB committees at several organizations. In 2008 he co-founded the Diversity and Inclusion Professionals of Central Pennsylvania as a professional development tool for Diversity and Inclusion Professionals. His DEIB work has been recognized by a variety of organizations, including the Harrisburg Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Central Pennsylvania Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.Frank resides with his wife of forty-five years on their Pennsylvania farm and enjoys the great good fortune of living within walking distance of their children and families.
