Michael P. Doyle is the Rita and John Feik Distinguished University Chair in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is a graduate of the College of St. Thomas and Iowa State University, has had academic appointments at undergraduate institutions (Hope College and Trinity University) and graduate universities (University of Arizona and University of Maryland) before taking his current position. He is widely recognized for his research in catalytic methods for metal carbene transformations. Xinfang Xu is graduated from East China Normal University (bachelor's degree in 2005, and Ph.D. in 2010), then conducted postdoctoral study at University of Maryland with Prof. Michael P. Doyle (2010-2014). In 2014, he started his independent career at Soochow University. He is now a full professor at Sun Yat-sen University, where his research interests include catalytic carbene gem-difunctionalization and cascade reaction, asymmetric catalysis, and bioactivity-oriented heterocycle syntheses.
