Do you have a loved one who's out-of-sync? Though written with grandkids in mind, if you're an auntie, cousin or just a friend of an out-of-sync child, this book is for you! Carol Stock Kranowitz continues her significant work and presents a plethora of playful activities specially designed for kids with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD).

Each activity in this inspiring and practical book is SAFE—Sensory-motor, Appropriate, Fun and Easy—to help develop and organize a child’s brain and body. Whether the children in your life challenges with touch, balance, movement, body position, vision, hearing, smell, and taste, motor planning, or other sensory problems, this book presents lively and engaging ways to bring fun and play to everyday situations.

This delightful book, written by Carol Stock Kranowitz and illustrated by Durell Godfrey, is a sequel to The Out-of-Sync Family. It will help grandparents, as well as parents, teachers, and other interested adults, share “teachable moments” with all children, with or without SPD.

When she was a preschool teacher, Carol Stock Kranowitz was curious about why certain young children responded in unusual ways to sensations that did not bother most kids. She learned about sensory integration and processing and wrote the first edition of The Out-of-Sync Child in 1998 to help parents and teachers understand and support kids who may be over-sensitive, under-sensitive, confused, poorly coordinated, and/or challenged in other mystifying ways. A graduate of Barnard College of Columbia University, she earned an M.A. in Education and Human Development from the George Washington University. Carol lives in Maryland with her partner Mark and has two sons and daughters-in-law and five grandchildren. She plays the cello, walks three miles a day, and answers every email. Durell Godfrey works as an illustrator for magazines and how-to books, and for the In-Sync Child publications, including Growing an In-Sync Child and  the In-Sync Activity Cards. She is the author/illustrator of two coloring books for grown ups. She lives in East Hampton, Long Island. When not drawing, she works as a photo journalist for The East Hampton Star, the local newspaper.
