Gut Punch is a raw, unfiltered memoir about what happens when the crisis ends-but the caregiver breaks. When Paul Pennington's wife, Wendi, is diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer, he becomes her sentry: vigilant, composed, and determined to carry her through. But once treatments stop and remission arrives, Paul is left behind, crushed by suppressed fear, emotional isolation, and a mental collapse he never saw coming.

Told with brutal honesty and quiet grace, Gut Punch exposes the unseen toll of caregiving and the silence that too often surrounds it-particularly for men. It's a powerful exploration of strength mistaken for wellness, resilience tangled with denial, and the long road back to wholeness.

If you've ever held it together for someone else-and didn't know how to put yourself back together afterward-Gut Punch is for you.
