This book presents important developments and applications of green chemistry, especially in the field of organic chemistry. The chapters give a brief account of green organic reactions in water, green organic reactions using microwave and in solvent-free conditions. In depth discussions on the green aspects of ionic liquids, flow reactions, and recoverable catalysts are provided in this book. An exclusive chapter devoted to green Lewis acid is also included. The potential of supercritical fluids as green solvents in various areas of organic reactions is explained as well. This book will be a valuable reference for beginners as well as advanced researchers interested in green organic chemistry.

Dr. Gopinathan Anilkumar is currently a Professor of Organic Chemistry at the School of Chemical Sciences of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, India. He obtained his Ph.D. in 1996 from the Regional Research Laboratory (later renamed the National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology, NIIST-CSIR), Trivandrum, with Dr. Vijay Nair. He undertook postdoctoral studies at the University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands (with Prof. Binne Zwanenburg), Osaka University, Japan (with Prof. Yasuyuki Kita), Temple University, USA (with Prof. Franklin A. Davis), Leibniz-Institut fur Organische Katalyse (IfOK), Germany (with Prof. Matthias Beller), and Leibniz-Institut fur Katalyse (LIKAT), Germany (with Prof. Matthias Beller). Then, he was a Senior Scientist at AstraZeneca, India. His research interests are in the areas of organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, green chemistry and catalysis, in particular ruthenium-, iron-, zinc- and copper-catalyzed reactions. He has7 patents and has published more than 110 papers in international journals. He is a recipient of the Dr. S. Vasudev award from Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, Government of Kerala, for best research in 2016. His h-index is 29.  Ms. Salim Saranya is a doctoral student of Prof. G. Anilkumar at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam Kerala India. Her area of work is organic synthesis and catalysis including exploration of greener protocols. She has published over 27 research papers and reviews. Attended and presented papers in many national and international conferences and seminars. She received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Christian College, Chengannur, in 2012 and 2014, respectively. She qualified the CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test in 2015 with a research fellowship.
