Fue tres veces candidato a la Presidencia de la Rep�blica, en las elecciones de 2006, 2012 y 2018. En su tercera postulaci�n para el cargo como Jefe del Poder Ejecutivo en 2018, gan� la elecci�n con el 53.19% de los votos.
