The Rev. Dr. David Smook was born in South Africa to a young couple who found their lives changed by the love of Jesus. The Smook family felt called to bring this divine love to one of the least important native tribes, the Butlaping. They felt the need for a proper Bible education and immigrated to the United States of America in 1948. Planning on returning to their native land, God had other adventures in store for the family of four. The Smook family became citizens of the USA in 1961. Dr. Smook collaborated with his family in writing about God's leading in, ""I Love To Tell the Story.""As he grew, Dr. Smook felt called by God to serve the Lord, Jesus, in ministry. In preparation, Dr. Smook attended Maryville College in Tennessee, Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Kentucky, and Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves, Missouri. He was then called to pastor the Deer Creek Presbyterian Church in a rural area of Northern Indiana, where he served for thirty-two years. Later in ministry, he earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Drew University in New Jersey. Dr. Smook served as Pastor to Pastor for the Presbytery of Wabash Valley in Northern Indiana for several years and later became an interim pastor in churches needing transitional leadership.Upon retiring from ministry Dr. Smook and his wife, Dot, moved to the Tippecanoe River in Indiana to enjoy the wildlife and serenity of nature. He now volunteers in the Rochester, Indiana, community and preaches when needed in churches to bring the Good News of the love of God in Jesus.
