Where God desires nations to repent, as He did with Nineveh, He sends prophets to warn of the coming final judgment. America, a nation that began on her knees in dependence on God, now stands in pride, having forsaken God. The call of God to every generation has been ""Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die ...?"" - Ezekiel 33:11. Yet the call for nations to repent has not been given to the people at large but to the redeemed of the Lord. Such was the promise to Solomon, ""If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land"" - 2 Chronicles 7:14.
As we celebrate 250 years of independence, let those who love her come and see the need of our day, heed the call, and set our sails, so that when God sends the winds of heaven, we will be there to catch them and stand in the gap for this generation.
