Ozgul Kartal is an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Her major area of research is the enhancement of teaching and learning in order to make mathematics accessible to a broader range of students by means of problem-solving and mathematical modeling, and implementation of effective mathematics teaching practices. Gorjana Popovic Dr. Popovic is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the Illinois Institute of Technology. She received her PhD in Mathematics Education at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Her current interests include effective teaching practices, specifically planning for and implementing high quality tasks, and the role of language in teaching and learning of mathematics. Susie Morrissey is an assistant professor at Mercer University. Her areas of interest center on effective teaching of mathematics and computer science. Research projects with colleagues across Mercer and at other universities are aimed at improving future opportunities for students through effective, equitable teacher education.
