This isn't who he is, but this is what Tim O'Connor does-and has done. Tim is a writer, coach, speaker, workshop leader, podcaster, bass player, and golf nerd. As an award-winning journalist, Tim was the national music writer for The Canadian Press news agency, freelance golf reporter for CBC Radio, and freelance golf writer. He has written four previous books including The Feeling of Greatness: The Moe Norman Story; The Ladies: 1924-1999; Devil's Pulpit: The First Decade; and he co-wrote The Single Plane Golf Swing: Play Better Golf the Moe Norman Way with Todd Graves. Tim was inducted into the Golf Ontario Hall of Fame in 2020 as the winner of the Lorne Rubenstein Media Award. He was a golf industry media consultant for 14 years before transitioning to coaching in 2014. He is former head coach of the men's and women's golf team at the University of Guelph. He writes the Up & Down newsletter on the Substack platform. He is co-host of the Swing Thoughts podcast launched in 2015 with ""Humble"" Howard Glassman. Along with mental game and life coaching, he coaches at The Golf House in Guelph and at Blue Springs in Acton, both in Ontario. He plays bass in C.I.D., a vintage punk band based in Guelph, where he lives with his wife Sandy Halloran and their boxer Freddie. They have two sons, Corey and Sean.
