ABBEY'S BOOKSELLER PICK ----- Bunting has the ability to take big subjects and present them in just the right size for young readers. This latest book could be as easily shared with a pre-schooler as a young primary age reader, and presents the amazing abilities of trees in a quietly educational way. The text is laced with in-jokes and touches of humour, which are also to be found in his highly recognisable graphic style of illustration (I rather liked the insistent fungus!) Photosynthesis, the wood-wide web, communication, growth patterns are simply explained, and the quiet environmental message of the importance of trees and what we hairy humans might learn from them is a nice way of rounding out the story. Grow slow, grow strong!  Lindy

What could we clever humans ever learn from trees? Take an unashamedly anthropomorphic wander through the woods to learn a few life lessons from our foliaged friends.
