Like the river flowing from Eden, Genesis gives rise to the headwaters of every rich stream of revelation which flows, gathering breadth and pace, throughout Scripture's unfolding story; it is foundational for our theology of, literally, everything. We will not fully understand the great doctrines of the Christian gospel unless we begin here, learning and teaching the beginning of the gospel at source.

This book opens up, in the message of the first book of the Bible, these Christian Beginnings.

A truly magnificent Christian commentary on this crucial biblical book. It demonstrates keen sensitivity to the literary features, tackles scholarly issues with clarity and addresses theological and pastoral topics with wisdom from decades of pastoral experience.

You will not find a single commentary that offers more than this one - Richard L Pratt, Jr

This remarkable work has all the ingredients of fine exposition: careful, detailed exegesis, insightful explanation of its relationship to the whole Bible story with its fulfilment in Christ and the gospel, and a breadth of contemporary relevance rooted in mature, godly wisdom.

A wealth of resources for any preacher or serious Bible student - I cannot recommend it too highly - David Jackman

A preacher's commentary, providing the necessary understanding of the text for such a task and showing how this can be done for those who might otherwise struggle to do it. It enables us to see the book of Genesis for what it truly is - Christian Scripture - and thus never fails to help us hear its call to the obedience of faith in Jesus Christ.

A clear, substantial and insightful resource - Robert S Smith

Models how to grapple with the text in a way that takes time to ask the questions people ask, thoughtfully address the puzzles we all have, and then press the message home with realistic and heartfelt pastoral application. Informed by a clear and robust reformed theology and shining with the light that comes from reading Genesis unashamedly in the light of the whole Bible story - Christopher Ash
