Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping science education by transforming how learners engage with complex concepts from early childhood through higher education. By creating personalized instruction and adaptive feedback, generative AI tools can make scientific learning more engaging and responsive to individual needs. From sparking curiosity in young learners through creative exploration to supporting advanced research and problem-solving at the university level, generative AI science education has the potential to bridge learning gaps. As educational systems evolve alongside technological innovation, integrating generative AI thoughtfully offers new opportunities to strengthen scientific literacy. Generative AI-Enhanced Science Education From Early Childhood to Higher Education explores the use of generative AI in science education and its new methods. It examines the potential of generative AI to transform science teaching and learning by proposing innovative pedagogical models. Covering topics such as science education, generative AI, and educational technologies, this book is an excellent resource for educational institutions, educators, academicians, researchers, technology developers, and graduate students.

Since 2021, he has been included in Stanford University’s “World’s Top 2% Scientists” list, which – developed by Stanford researchers in collaboration with Elsevier – uses Scopus data and strict criteria such as total citations, the h-index and reflects scientists’ real impact within their fields. He graduated from the Physics Department of the University of Crete and completed postgraduate studies at the University Paris 7–Denis Diderot (D.E.A. in Didactics of Physics) and the University Paris 5-René Descartes–Sorbonne (D.E.A. in Science Education), where he also received his Ph.D. in Science Education. His research interests include science education, STEM education, mobile learning for science education, distance learning, computational thinking, experiments and simulations for science education and the use of GenAI in science education. He has published over 150 articles in international conferences and journals and has served on the program committees of numerous international conferences. Dimitrios Sotiropoulos is a member of the teaching laboratory staff of the Department of Special Education of the University of Thessaly. His qualifications include a PhD on the use of digital technology in science education (University of Athens), a Master's Degree (M.Sc.) in Science Education (University of Athens) and a Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in Physics (AUTh). He has extensive experience in teaching at all levels of education and in training teachers in the use of new technologies in educational practice. He has taught computing and science at primary, secondary and post-secondary levels. At the tertiary level, for several years he has taught numerous courses on the pedagogical use of digital technology. He has also supervised students in the preparation of their postgraduate theses. He has also participated in a variety of European education programmes, including Erasmus+, Horizon 2020 and previous initiatives. His postdoctoral thesis concerned the design and implementation of a functional, user-friendly and useful web platform for teachers and students. His research interests focus on the scientific disciplines and the use of new technologies in education. In particular, his recent academic research focuses on the pedagogical integration of emerging technologies, especially Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), in STEM and STEAM education. He has presented his research at numerous academic conferences, journals and forums in Greece and abroad.
