For more than four decades, Alvalyn Lundgren has been freelancing and teaching. In 1993 she established Alvalyn Creative as a strategic consultancy to help her clients grow their enterprises through brand strategy, visual design, and illustration. Her client roster includes notable brands including Epson, Baxalta US, City of Los Angeles, Southern California Edison, and California State University, Northridge, as well as numerous small and mid-size businesses and organizations. Alongside her design practice she is a respected teacher of creative skills and creative business in design programs with UCLA Extension, ArtCenter College of Design Extended Studies, and independently. Her Eye Level blog about design, drawing, and visual perception attracts thousands of readers, and she serves a growing YouTube audience. An advocate of art and design as viable professions, she founded Freelance Road Trip to teach business skills to creatives, sharing what she learned from building her own business so that others can learn from her mistakes and avoid making their own. She is the creator and host of the Freelance Road Trip podcast and the Occuprise Network, and is currently developing an online platform to teach aspiring illustrators and designers key creative and business skills to practice professionally.
