Why should the Church number its days by observing a liturgical calendar each year, moving from Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost?
Because the annual church calendar retells the Life of the Lord Jesus Christ. By celebrating the major events of Jesus' life, the Church affirms the historicity of His life instead of dismissing the story of Jesus as an abstract collection of timeless morals.

Duane Garner is the pastor of Christ Church (CREC) in Raleigh, NC where he has served since 2012. He earned a Bachelor of Bible Languages from Oxford Baptist Institute, Oxford, MS, studied at the Bucer Institute for Biblical Studies, Monroe, LA for four years, and is an ACBC certified Biblical counselor. He is the author of Why the End is Not Near: A Refutation of End-Times Hysteria and editor of The Federal Vision. He and his wife Sarah have been married since 1997 and have two children.
