Come on the journey from womb to walking as your baby finds their feet.

Good health and well-being starts at the feet. From their first kicks in the womb to their first wobbly toddler steps - and every milestone in between - your baby's feet play a crucial role in their physical, mental, and emotional development.

Finding Their Feet is an accessible and practical guide for parents and carers, designed to equip them for the most important role they will ever have - guiding their child's development for life-long success, from the feet up.

Learn about the anatomy and development of your baby's feet, and the important relationship between their feet, body, and brain. Explore how your baby practices movement from their earliest moments, and how their innate primal reflexes and gross motor skills (rolling, crawling, standing and walking) help to develop their central nervous system, laying the foundations in their first years for reading, writing and language. Discover the importance of being barefoot, and the best footwear choices for your child.

Combining the latest research, easy-to-follow anatomical science, and fun, practical activities and exercises for you to enjoy with your baby while supporting their development,

Finding Their Feet is a parenting book like no other.

"As an internationally-certified Infant Massage Instructor (IAIM) since 2002, Bernie Landels has helped many parents build strong connections with and foundations for their children through touch and education.Bernie's journey into working with the body began in 1996 at the New Zealand College of Massage (NZCM), where she gained a Bachelor of Health Studies (Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy). She went on to teach clinical massage at the NZCM from 1999 while also working in private practice, before becoming the owner and director of the college until 2011.Bernie is passionate about enabling people to gain insight and knowledge about their anatomy to help their own health and wellbeing. Since moving to the UK, Bernie has continued her studies and gained additional qualifications to further understand anatomy, movement and the human form. While working with adults presenting with pain and postural 'issues', and teaching parents about their infants Bernie started asking the question - what if the 'issues' started developing in the earliest years? This burning question was the catalyst for Bernie to embark on writing Finding Their Feet: an accessible and practical guide designed for parents and carers, to equip them for the most important role they will have - guiding their child's development. 'I wish I knew what I know now when my boys were little, they may not have had some of the challenges they faced.' Bernie LandelsBased on Bernie's empowering approach, Finding Their Feet will build your confidence and provide practical activities for you to experience with your baby, playing, building bonds and foundations for life. Bernie is a new empty-nester, with two grown up young sons now exploring the world. She continues to work in private practice in Oxford, UK, working with all ages but focusing on pregnancy massage and sharing the joys of infant massage. To learn more about Bernie and her work, please visit: https: //www.bernielandels.comBernie Landels has been an internationally-certified Infant Massage Instructor (IAIM) since 2002, helping parents develop strong connections with their children through touch and education. Reviews for Finding Their Feet: Every parent's guide to milestones and movement

In a world that seems to pull us toward an unnatural lifestyle, Bernie's book is a most welcome call to show us that nature really does know best. James Earls, author of Born to Walk and Understanding the Human Foot (UK) This book will support newborn parents, carers, teachers, and those in the sports, massage and yoga industries who work with babies and children. A great interactive book that got me doing something physical so I could feel what was going on. P-J McCrea, Founder of Little Steps. Beautiful Beginnings (NZ) Wow! As a teacher, education researcher and first 1000 days specialist, I had NO idea how important the foot was in the development of the child! I really recommend that every educator reads this fount of fascinating information. For every parent just starting their parenting journey, this will make fascinating reading during your pregnancy and early days. Not only will you learn heaps but you will be so much more informed of ways to support your child in their development from the earliest of days, which in turn will help them to develop to their full. This is like no other pregnancy book! Clare Stead, creator and founder of the Oliiki app (UK) This is a very valuable book for parents, especially fathers. From personal experience, (new) fathers are sometimes a bit lost as to what they can do with their baby when they have to tend to them. The information and exercises are great way for fathers to do something that is fun as well as helpful! All dads should read this book! Gert Lippens, chiropractor and father (UK) An inspiring and informative read for parents and those who work with infants. As a midwife I recommend this book to other midwives so they can share this valuable advice with women in their care. Finding Their Feet gives practical and well-founded advice on how a parent/caregiver can, with confidence, have an active role in their child's development. Dr Heather Donald, midwifery lecturer and researcher, Auckland University of Technology (NZ) Bernie has really done her research magnificently, and shone the light on the importance of primitive reflexes in the development of the whole nervous system. I recommend Finding Their Feet for bodyworkers, nurses and therapists. Peggy Dawson, director of Service Through Nurturing Touch (NZ) Finding Their Feet will help parents, carers and early years educators learn more about physical development from pre-birth to two years. As well as learning all about feet, Bernie explores the fascinating aspects of reflexes, sensory integration and movement. There's a mixture of theory and practical ideas and activities presented in an easy to read, relatable style. Sue Asquith, international early childhood consultant and author (UK)
