""It stopped. The most beloved heartbeat in Renate's world was that of her husband Doug, riddled with pancreatic cancer. Formerly missionaries in Brazil, she was now a freshly made widow. Even when kept by God, life can feel scary. Consider Renate's continuing discovery of God's constant guidance as she confronts jagged fears with settled satisfaction in him. If you need to land on your feet, it starts on page one. God can be trusted."" --Susan Utsey, facilitator, Grace for Healing grief support group, Grace Bible Church, Winston-Salem, North Carolina ""Renate openly shares her experience of walking alongside her husband as he traversed the valley of the shadow of death. She doesn't discuss the fears, confusion, or loneliness without pointing back to God. She reminds us of Romans 8:28 and verse 29, these verses remind us of the good purpose which God is fulfilling in allowing trials to come into our lives--to conform us to his image. Psalm 119:71, 'It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn your statutes.'"" --Christine Carmichael, ACBC Counselor, Grace Counseling Ministry ""Renate writes with great clarity and vulnerability. It is a difficult thing to intentionally relive difficult seasons of life--it is something entirely different to invite others down that path with you. Renate has done both poignantly and graciously. Renate vividly illustrates both the darkness of her experience and the brightness of God's promises to his children. This book is sure to help those who are in the midst of their own traumatic seasons, grasping for the courage to face their fears head on."" --Chris Wittlinger, Director, Grace Counseling Ministry ""It stopped.
