Dr.Akhtar Aliis a professor of biological sciences at the University of Tulsa, where he hastaught Experimental Techniques in Molecular Biology since 2007. Over thepast 18 years, he has also taught a wide range of advanced courses, including Introductionto Virology, Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Biology ofCancer, and Molecular Biology.In2017, Dr. Ali was awarded a prestigious U.S. Fulbright Fellowship to conductresearch at Okayama University in Japan, where he focused onmycoviruses--viruses that infect fungi. His research has led to more than 110peer-reviewed publications, 12 book chapters, and a co-edited volume titled PepperVirome: Diversity, Evolution, and Management (Elsevier, USA). Dr. Ali hasbeen invited to speak at 28 national and international institutions and haspresented his work at over 25 global and 100 national conferences.Inrecognition of his impactful research, Dr. Ali received the 2025 OutstandingResearcher Award from the University of Tulsa, the 2025 Research ExcellenceAward from the Oxley College of Health and Natural Sciences, and the 2025 FacultyChampion for Global Engagement recognition by the Center for Global Education.In 2023, he was also honored with the Zelimir Schmidt Outstanding ResearcherAward from the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences at the University ofTulsa.
