Estelle Day's new book, Easy Oil Painting is the perfect introduction for those new to oils, or who fancy a change of medium. Subtitled, 'Beginner tutorials for small still lifes' Estelle uses small, everyday objects as her still-life subjects, which she paints on canvases measuring no more than 4in. (10cm), keeping everything very simple. Paints, materials and workspace are all covered in the opening chapters before moving on to oil-painting techniques, learning about colour and composition, and finishing with projects to work on.
