Drawing A Year came out of Genie Poretzky-Lee's desire to give, with no strings attached, a drawing a day to be gifted to anyone who makes a request.

The idea of giving has been there since the beginning of time, this work is an acknowledgement of all that is given and all that has been received. In Margaret Atwood's words: ""Gifts pass from hand to hand: they endure through such transmission, as every time a gift is given it is enlivened and regenerated through the new spiritual life it engenders in both the giver and in the receiver."" (2012).

365 drawings in full colour.

How to use Drawing a Year: Since ancient times, books have been used for divination. Bibliomancy- the practice of foretelling the future by interpreting randomly chosen passages- has deep historical roots. The Persian term Falnama, meaning ""book of omens,"" refers to illustrated manuscripts used for this purpose. After a ritual of purification, individuals would open the book to a random page, interpreting the text and imagery for insight into the future.

Drawing a Year follows this tradition. The concept, behind the images was channelled by artist Genie Poretzky-Lee. Her drawings reflect time through the Gregorian calendar and numerology, and vibrations through the Hebraic alphabet and the I Ching. The book is rich with symbolic imagery, evoking ancestral metaphysical pathways. Each drawing serves as a tool for attunement, offering daily wisdom and guidance.
