This is a new and revised edition of Don't You Remember? When George Ella Lyon remembers a childhood experience in which she seems to have uncovered another lifetime, she enters upon a decades-long search for the real ""Jane Grace."" Her pilgrimage takes her back to the town where the memories surfaced, through libraries and archives, into past-life therapy, and eventually to Wales. As she follows the spiraling threads further into this mystery and calls upon her deepest insights into the creative process, Lyon leads the reader to encounter the greater mystery of who and how we are.

""This is a gorgeous and deeply unsettling book...[Lyon] lays it all out, allowing us to see and draw our own conclusions. What she also does is write with passionate clarity about the life of stories and the telling of lives, about what writers do and how they work."" - Booklist

Reviews for Don't You Remember?

""George Ella Lyon didn't ask if you believe. She asked if you remember- If you can recall yourself-yourselves. Do You Remember? is a thrilling mashup of mystery and memoir, a shocking detective story that tracks us all across the veil. Lyon inspires even the most cautious reader to imagine that we do not belong only to ourselves. This is a story that reveals the miracle of story. She may not have asked if you believe, but by the end, you will."" -Rebecca Gayle Howell, author of Render: An Apocalypse and American Purgator (Winner of The Sexton Prize) ""Haunting, thought-provoking, brave."" -Silas House, author of Southernmost and Lark Ascending (Winner of the Southern Book Award) ""I consumed [this book] as if it were the deepest, richest chocolate, savoring every page and development, reading and rereading, marveling at your great gift of potent description -- nothing extra, nothing over the top. I was mesmerized. In a swoon. Wanted it to go on forever, keep unfolding forever - which of course, it probably does."" -Naomi Shihab Nye, U.S. Children's Poet Laureate 2019-2022, author of Everything Comes Next: Collected and New Poems
