The study of discourse has spanned many disciplines and is of particular interest to aphasiologists.
In recent years, discourse abilities in aphasia have garnered more attention. Within this issue, different methods for evaluating discourse production in adults with aphasia to better characterize their communication impairments are presented. Also, treatments at the discourse level to improve linguistic abilities in individuals with aphasia are explored. The purpose of this special issue is to highlight the current research in this area and challenge researchers to investigate communication impairments at the discourse level and consider their findings within theoretical frameworks.
