Di Bresciani OAM is one of Australia’s most well-known artists living today, and since 1990 has exhibited regularly – many of her works are held in collections both nationally and around the world. Di completed a Music Degree at the University of Melbourne and subsequently obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Music and Psychology which involved seven pilot studies and a major enquiry into transfer effects. In the 1980s her research achieved international recognition; she served as a board member and CEO of Yamaha Education Australia; and in 1988 she founded the Youth Music Foundation of Australia Inc, which is affiliated with leading music and arts institutions in Australia, Italy, the USA and the UK. In 2003, Di was selected Woman Achiever of the Year by the Australian Brain Foundation and in 2013, she was awarded Merit in the Order of Australian Honours List for her “contributions to music, the visual arts and the community”. Di is a life member of the Melba Trust Foundation, an Honorary Fellow of the Australian Institute of Music Teachers, a Fellow and Life Governor of University College, Melbourne, Governor of the Florey and Mental Health Research Institute and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Di’s unique background of music and the visual arts “gives her an unerring and intuitive sense of judgement” (Piers Lane AO) and “Her relationship between music and painting, and especially music and colour has defined absolutely, the kind of artist Di has become” (Gerard Vaughan AM).
