Church planting is a rigorous and rewarding endeavor that requires more than preaching ability--it demands the creation of a deeply rooted, gospel-centered community. In Deep Roots: Toward a Biblical-Theological Framework for Church Planting, Michael A. Milton offers a compelling guide to the theological, pastoral, and practical dimensions of church planting. As part of the respected D. James Kennedy Institute series, this work serves as both a roadmap and a theological syllabus for leaders seeking to plant and sustain vibrant congregations. Milton emphasizes that church planting is fundamentally a shepherd's work: nurturing, guiding, and cultivating a community of faith with spiritual integrity at its core. Success in this calling requires more than eloquent sermons; it necessitates creating an environment where the gospel thrives and disciples are made.

Reviews for Deep Roots

""Dr. Milton is a veteran church-planter, integrating the disciplines of visionary, pastor, professor, and counselor. Indeed, he is one of our foremost missional strategic thinkers and practitioners. I am so grateful that he has now cataloged all that wisdom and experience in this slim volume. Deep Roots is a must read for the next generation of church planters."" --George Grant, pastor, Parish Presbyterian Church, Franklin, Tennessee ""I am pleased to endorse Deep Roots, a very timely book written by Michael Milton. It is written in a simple and popular style which is engaging to the reader. The church planter and his work are defined according to Scripture, and Milton emphasizes the importance of him being fully formed spiritually. . . . I will be encouraging the denomination in which I serve to adopt this book for their training of church planters and evangelists who will take the message of the truth to the world."" --Dewey Roberts, pastor, Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, Destin, Florida ""Amidst all of today's 'novel' church planting strategies, one thing is needed most: a trusted, proven voice to guide today's leaders in faithful understanding of biblical truths and scriptural guidelines for effective gospel ministry. Thank God for Mike Milton, who reminds us that we must first embrace who we must become before we can begin to understand what we must do. This clever book is a wonderful gift in which Milton shares his wisdom and vision for what it means to form dynamic ministers today."" --Scott Manor, president, Knox Theological Seminary, Fort Lauderdale, Florida
