Reviews for Dealing with Dementia for Caregivers: Real-World Advice to Prevent & Relieve Crisis Situations, Manage Long Care Hours, Alleviate the Burden You Feel & Cope with Daily Frustrations

5.0 out of 5 stars Can I give this book 10 stars? This book is absolutely fantastic and should be given to every family with a loved one diagnosed with dementia. It starts with the very basics of different types of dementia and leads the reader through every step. There are practical, real-world suggestions, like color-coded doors and deadbolts out of sight. On top of all this are the links that add an out-of-this-world dimension to this book. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It is a must-have for anyone walking down the road of caregiver. I wish it had been available when my mother had Alzheimer's. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!As a previous owner of a company that dealt with the elderly and have experience with Dementia clients this book is 5 stars! If you are new to being a caregiver and want to learn about tips to understanding Dementia clients this book is for you. I highly recommend this book. 5.0 out of 5 stars Realistic and helpful guide for dementiaI loved this book. My mom had dementia, and it was a difficult road. The author has done a lot of research and has personal experience with dementia. I never knew the type of dementia that my mom had, but it was helpful to read the different types and their symptoms. One thing that I did with my mom was something the author mentioned as a great controversy: ""to pretend or not to pretend"". Some doctors say we shouldn't indulge in the delusions of our loved one whose brain is broken. Others say it's compassionate to go along with them. I found with my mom that I lovingly listened and pretended right along with her. It gave her such comfort. It was so encouraging to me to read about this in the book. I feel like I did the right thing. If anyone is going through the stages of dementia with a loved one, this book definitely will be a big help! 5.0 out of 5 stars Highly RecommendedDealing with Dementia for Caregivers is a very informative useful book. It is packed with so much useful information. Beginning with recognizing the signs of early dementia. It helps you travel the maze of being stuck in the spiral of this disease. The chapter on dealing with financial issues was very helpful to me. There is so much covered in this book I would say it's a must read for caregiver; and is good to keep at hand to pick up again and again. I highly recommend this book.
